Fairfax, VA, USA. The internet is a seemingly anonymous playground for the crazies. Disturbed personalities lash out viciously then retreat back into darkness from whence they came. All the while adolescent behavior gathers more and more in blog safety. Fan boy culture, where the testosterone accumulates unabated by rationality and reinforces what normally be a passing stage of young male development, has now become an accepted way of life that has infected women's spaces. On any given day on the internet, there are only so many sociopaths available to spew obscenities and sexist rants on their various blogs. During the dog days of August, a natural lull frequently occurs. As the therapists go on their summer vacations, their uncounselled sociopaths find themselves rudderless without reinforcement and gradually sink into ever deeper sulks and eventually to silence. The radical feminists find the time available to conduct man-hating attacks greatly reduced as August means they must prepare to return to the comforting walls of their real or virtual universities, and the safely constrained boundaries of academic debate. Once the daily sociopathic supply is exhausted, the blogs normally go quiet for one or two days if they overextend themselves. But then an explosive, multi-site conflagration occurs for a week, and then another slack period before the sociopaths feel sufficiently rested and disturbed to assault the web again. Normal university rebellion now extends to thirty and beyond as young men and women drift from one meaningless job to another in what appears to be a subsistence economy that consciously avoids responsibility to the world outside academicism or, worse yet, starting and raising a family. Adult responsibility is to be avoided at all costs. We all have encountered self-identified sociopaths who wear their disturbances as a badge of honor. The world wide web is a universe where being bipolar can be admitted in the same reverent tones as winning the Medal of Honor – the chief difference being, of course, that Medal winners do not normally talk about their medal or constantly bring up the actions that resulted in the award. Genuinely humble heroes know it was not about them. How to Distinguish a Sociopath from a Person with Bipolar Disorder A Sociopath often possesses a glib, superficial charm but they never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. Their victim is merely an instrument to be used. Sociopaths have a grandiose sense of self and feel entitled to what they want as their right. They have no problem lying to get what they want. Personal remorse, shame or guilt is completely absent. At their core a deep seated rage sees the people around them only as targets of opportunity. The end always justifies the means. Sociopaths are outraged by insignificant matters but are unmoved by what upsets a normal person and have oblivious contempt for the feelings or welfare of others. Verbal outbursts are common, with no sense of personal boundaries or their impact on others. They cannot be trusted. Sociopaths abound on the internet and are always a danger. Recognize anyone? A person who is bipolar goes back and forth between periods of a very good or irritable mood and depression. Their mood can quickly swing between mania and depression. The manic phase lasts from days to months. During that time the person may be easily distracted and exhibit poor judgment and temper control. Behavior is often reckless. Those in the manic phase can exhibit an extremely elevated mood highlighted by hyperactivity, increased energy, and very high self-esteem. Their intense involvement with ongoing activities may appear as agitation and irritation disproportional to the actual activity. Those in a depressed phase of bipolar disorder normally possess a low mood or sadness and have difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions. Fatigue and lack of energy is common along with a feeling of worthlessness, hopelessness, or guilt. In contrast to the sociopath, a person in the depressed phase of bipolar disorder has low self-esteem. Thoughts of death and suicide are common as are alcohol and substance abuse. Although there is a high risk of suicide, a person with bipolar disorder is seldom a threat to others even when, similar to a sociopath, they exhibit poor judgment and temper control. How to distinguish a Radical Feminist (RadFem) from a Fan Boy Radical Feminists base their claims on the idea that Western Culture is a patriarchy in which men are the primary oppressors of women. Their philosophical statements result from a studied and calm analysis, but can devolve among activists into irrational rage and derision aimed at everyone who they perceive as male. An outside observer may conclude that the central activist RadFem message is of one hate and unresolved adolescent resentment. They share their rage and resentment with the Fan Boys but, although the RadFem comments can sometimes resemble the Fan Boy testosterone spew, it is easy to distinguish between the two.
Looked at together, the RadFems and Fan Boys most resemble adolescents in vocal rebellion against authority and their inevitable passage into adulthood. Anyone who has raised a teenager will recognize the behavior. The group RadFems most closely resemble, however, are closeted homosexuals. The RadFems rage against all men in general is indistinguishable from the rage exhibited by homophobes against gays and lesbians, opposing same sex marriage even as they participate in clandestine sex acts with other males. [N2] This make me suspect that – at their deepest level – many activist RadFems are closet heterosexuals. The possibility would make an interesting research topic but I suspect raising the subject would only make the RadFems angry. It certainly makes congressmen and preachers angry when they are asked the parallel question. Notes[N1] "In 1968, RadFems protested against the Miss America pageant by throwing high heels and other feminine accoutrements into a garbage bin, to represent freedom. In 1970, they staged a sit-in at the Ladies' Home Journal. — Wikipedia
