Charles Village was established in 1869 as a neighborhood in the north-central area of Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

It is a racially diverse and middle-class area near Johns Hopkins University. The area has many single-family homes and is thought to be the first tract housing community in the United States.

The Old Gaucher neighborhood within the Village has become a magnet for all-night prostitution and related trafficking. Recently, the mix of prostitutes that patrol the area has changed, causing considerable alarm among the residents.

Fairfax, VA, USA. In Baltimore did transgender hookers a sleazy pleasure-dome decree where transvestite men in low strumpet drag walk the streets of Old Goucher along the southern end of Charles Village. The problem is not new, only the men in drag are new, talking loudly on their cell phones and turning Old Goucher into an all-night outdoor sex shop.

East 21st Street between Charles and St. Paul, 11 p.m. on a recent night: a rat scurries across an alley; a motorcyclist clad in leather revs his Harley outside a Hells Angels clubhouse; a man wearing high heels, a halter top and a red-and-white striped miniskirt saunters by.

Up the street, another man dressed as a woman - wearing nothing more than shoes, a T-shirt and a thong that reveals, well, almost everything - stands outside the stone edifice of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church. [N1]

Beaten, shunted to the shadows, forgotten. Many of them suffer from disease, drug addiction, or mental problems.

The average life on the streets is less than five years

before mistakes of judgment, the lack of medical treatment, or an overdose of drugs kill them. Very few of the “working girls” ever make it back off the streets. Most of them die with their fairytale dreams of a happy endings and holidays with family still unfulfilled.

Once involved, you cannot easily escape the life. The money is good, the drugs are easily obtainable, and the line of tricks waiting for a cute guy in drag is endless.

Girls with dicks can charge more on the street.

They are at a premium and the pay is good. No one wants to give up the money, even if most of it is spent on drugs, silicone, and black market hormones to make their skin softer. The only affection many of the girls have ever known is provided by pimps and passing johns.

Men come looking for chicks with dicks. If the working girls have a problem, their customers are have one that consumes them, fills them with a need to consummate their fetish obsession, a need the men cannot discuss with their wives and friends who do not ever visit Old Gaucher.

Male fetish can explode in violence as male self-hatred is redirected at the same girls who are the targets of their customer’s obsessions. Some men would rather kill the objects of their lust than examine what drives them to the streets of Baltimore. If the girl is removed, no one can prove the man consented and the sex never occurred. The sin is removed as certainly as if it were confessed.

All five murders no doubt were committed by the same hand. In the first four the throats appear to have been cut from left to right, in the last case owing to the extensive mutilation it is impossible to say in what direction the fatal cut was made, but arterial blood was found on the wall in splashes close to where the woman's head must have been lying. All the circumstances surrounding the murders lead me to form the opinion that the women must have been lying down when murdered and in every case the throat was first cut. [N2]

We need to help all these girls off the street and, failing that, protect them from the ravages of angry men, drugs, and disease. [N3]

We also need to help the residents of Old Gaucher. They should be able to venture outside at night without needing to walk around cross-dressed prostitutes or being mistaken for a hooker.

I'm tired of being picked up on ... every time I go out and sit on the steps on St. Paul. The first time a guy asked me if I was working, I didn't even know what he was asking. I said, 'Yea, I work, I'm a nurse. [N4]

Homeowners should not be kept awake at night by the shouts of tricks and hookers or be propositioned as they head off to work at 6 a.m. The streets of Old Gaucher should not be littered with drug needles and used condoms.

A man dressed up as a woman and standing on the corner, even though it's obvious what he is doing, is not against the law. [N5]

Most of these men, however, are not really transgendered. They should not be confused with young transsexuals who take to the streets after they are thrown out by their families.

In most cases, crossdressing is simply that — crossdressing — a common practice among males, straight and gay. That a crossdresser is working the street rather than an office is seldom caused by the clothes he prefers to wear. Crossdressing does not make one unable to find and hold a job that pays a living wage. [N6]

And sometimes, crossdressing is a business decision because the money is better.

Doesn’t mean that society should have free rein to beat up crossdressers or throw them in jail.

But it also means that gender theory political correctness should not require that crossdressing working girls be transgender. Nor should society blithely gather male prostitutes under the transgender umbrella simply because the hooker chooses to wear a dress or hot pants.

There is more to transgender than the clothes on their backs.

Just like there is more to transsexuality than the transgenders could ever imagine or be willing to admit.

Clothes do not make one transgender nor does simply dressing in drag make one a transsexual.

Life is more than an episode of Project Runway.
