The Psychologist I saw in order to get my SRS letter studied for her PhD under Dr Money and her opinion of him was that he was an idiot when it came to Gender and Transsexuals. Not to mention that his theories were way off in left field. In the case of Reimer; He had ALWAYS insisted that he was a male or Boy, so Money's flawed theory was based on "Facts" that he interpreted to suit his theory and ignored reality. - Pamela

"Non-compliance with all treatment protocols"

Bullough blamed the failed case of David Reimer on non-compliance with all treatment protocols. This placed responsibility with the the parents.

I find it astounding that, when faced with the fact that the very case that propelled Dr. John Money's theories to near universal acceptance is found to be an abject failure, that a so-called expert can turn around and dismiss this failure as being due to "non-compliance with all treatment protocols." Whether or not that is true is beside the point. John Money used this single case to leverage his theories on gender reassignment to near universal medical acceptance. He did this despite that fact that it was an obvious fiasco from the very start. This one failure almost entirely negates his life's work, and his cherished central belief that gender identity is malleable and socially conditioned.

The only thing not surprising is that the "experts" who have been diligently promoting and applying Money's discredited theories throughout their entire careers are reluctant to admit that their own life's work is also for naught. No one wants to throw out a lifetime's worth of research and clinical practice, even if it can be proven that said research was predicated on a fraudulent foundation. - Alistair McLaughlin
